This year it was voted at the August meeting to mail all members 2 booklets of tickets to buy or sell. This is our major fund raiser of the year. The month of October is one of the best months to ride. The colors of the leaves are beautiful at this time of the year. Enjoy and ride safe.
Last Months meeting drawing of $10.00 was won by Kevin Fortin and he donated it back to the club; Thank You.

Hello Club Members;

Our July hot dog roast went well and we had a nice crowd on hand. I would like to thank those who hosted the hot dog roast; Rodney & Dianne Ouellette, Joe & Laura Clement, Sandra & Rosaire Guerrette.
Our next hot dog roast will be on Sunday August 9; serving time will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Hope to see everyone there.
I'm happy to announce that the club has been awarded a Yamaha grant for the Violette, Marion Dr, Trading Post and Laplante trails. Dean Grivois who wrote the grant was able to get $12,725.00 for this project. This trail will be called the Yamaha By-pass Route. More news about this project on next Newsletter. Thank You Yamaha Motor Corp. for funding this project.
The Van Buren SummerFest Parade will be this Saturday; August 1st. The club would like to have a big turn out of atv's in the parade. Line up will be at the Community Center at 2 pm, Parade starts at 3 pm. The theme of the Parade is " Make a Joyful Noise ". Let's make an effort & participate in this event. This is good for the club and also for our Community. The club will be having a concession stand on Main Street from 4 pm until we run out of Beans & Ployes & also sweets. If you would like to donate sweets for this event, this would be very much appreciated. These sweets can be brought to the event or dropped off at my house at 145 State Street on Friday or Saturday. Help will be needed at the concession stand. We will also have club shirts & hats available for those who are interested in buying them. Come on over and support the club & other vendors in this event.
This past Saturday, the club hosted Star City ATV Club for lunch at our picnic site. This was part of Star City Ultimate Event that has been held for the past 4 years. We only had a few weeks to prepare for this picnic but everything went well. The dedicated atv riders from all over came up in the rain for this picnic. We served over 100 people for lunch. Thank you Star City ATV Club for your support. In return, a club ride to Star City Parks & Ride by members of the Van Buren Club left Van Buren about 3:30 pm that day for A Pig Roast & Bean Hole Bean Supper. The meal was excellent. Our small group left Presque Isle with most of the raffle winnings, I believe over $500.00 worth. Thank you Star City ATV Club.
This event could not have happened without the super amount of help we received in hosting this picnic. I would like to thank Charles & Velma Ouellette, Harold Cormier, Andy Gendreau, Bob Rossignol, Ronald & Ann Roy, Ray & Shirley Hanson, Bob & Mona Violette, Mike & Michelle Gagnon, Rodney Soucy & Greta Ouellette, Georgie Martin, Fernand Levesque, Steve Ayotte and also my wife. Thanks to all for a fine job.
Thanks to Rodney Ouellette for grass cutting at the picnic site and also Kenney Doucette at the atv garage and Ivan Levesque at the atv parking. This is very much appreciated.
The Madawaska & Grand Isle Irving Trail is closed due to wood operations. Please abide by landowners wishes.
We will let you know when it re-opens. The Irving Trail from Collins Siding to Van Buren Cove is open.
LURC has issued a violation at the picnic site for not getting a permit for the tarp/canopy that we have for shade & rain protection. Code enforcer Don Cote says that this is a 4 season structure that can withstand snow conditions the same as a wooded shed. At a meeting in Ashland at the LURC office on July 16, Scott Rollins from Augusta said that this violation will not be withdrawn unless the fee was paid, but he would go to the site the next day to look at the canopy. I believe that Mr. Rollins is trying to cover up this violation. LURC can not own up to a mistake that the code enforcer made. The club is not in violation. We will not pay for the code enforcers mistake. This issue has yet to be resolved.
Last months meeting drawing of $10.00 was won by Charles Ouellette.
